The ocean is changing
It has been our invaluable ally in recent decades, absorbing around 25% of global CO2 emissions and over 90% of the excess heat retained as a result of the greenhouse effect.
We have not yet paid for this invaluable service but the ocean has, and it has been a heavy price; coral bleaching and ocean acidification – with its increasingly severe consequences for ocean life – will have an even greater impact in the coming years.
The surest way we can avoid the worst consequences is by rapid and deep reductions in our GHG emissions. And, we can go further, we can enhance the ocean’s ability to help us remove CO2 from the atmosphere, without adding to ocean acidification; we can increase its resilience in the face of future emissions … we can enable ocean renewal.
To imagine that the efforts of a single company could renew the ocean would be the height of hubris; but, together with the many others pursuing similar solutions, we may be able to create a future in which the worst outcomes – for all life below the sea – are avoided.
novocean aims to play a part in this crucial endeavour.
